Santa Barbara, CA (May 25, 2011) Lynn Luckow, president and CEO of Craigslist Foundation, will be the commencement speaker for Fielding Graduate University on Saturday, July 23, 2011, at the Hilton Alexandria Mark Center in Alexandria, VA. For the first time in its 37-year history, Fielding will bring together all three schools – Psychology, Human & Organizational Development, and Educational Leadership & Change – for an all-schools convocation followed by the graduation ceremony of each school.

Luckow’s professional interests center on addressing the pervasive social, cultural, and economic challenges faced by the world and resonate with Fielding’s focus on social justice.  He will address “Who’s Responsible for the Public Good?”

Luckow has an extensive background in business, philanthropy, and higher education. He was president and CEO of Jossey-Bass Publishers and later transition president of Northern California Grantmakers. His experience consulting to and serving nonprofit organizations is vast. He has served on over 40 boards and in 2000 was honored as the nation’s top nonprofit board chairman by the National Assembly of Health and Human Service Organizations.

Luckow was a doctoral student at Fielding in the early 1980s and will be conferred an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters at the July event. Fielding President Richard S. Meyers said of Luckow, “He has made great strides in addressing the causes of social injustice and strengthening those organizations that seek solutions. As such, Mr. Luckow exemplifies the best of what our alumni are and what they achieve.”
